The sisters of Alpha Phi welcome you to meet us this year during Formal Recruitment! We are excited to give you a glimpse into what our chapter is all about – scholarship, service, leadership, character development, and a genuine sisterhood that you will have for life. Our open motto, “Union Hand in Hand,” is the essence of our strong sisterhood. Here at Alpha Phi, you will find a home away from home – a remarkable support system of sisters that are always by your side. You will find love and loyalty, sympathy and understanding, inspiration and opportunity.

BID DAY!
Beginning on Bid Day, Alpha Phi quickly works to integrate our new members into our chapter. We view our new member program as a journey into our sisterhood that is tailored to each new member we receive. We match each new member with a member of the chapter to be their “Bid Day Buddy,” who acts as the new member’s introduction to the chapter and assures that each new member is comfortable in their new home in Alpha Phi!
BIG/LITTLE
In the following weeks, our new member meetings and Forget-Me-Not pairings begin. Our Forget-Me-Not’s will take you under their wings and plan fun activities for you to do together. During the Forget-Me-Not program, you will find the perfect sister to call your Big. During Big/Little Week, you will be showered with surprises and clues from your secret Big Sister, who reveals herself to you during Big/Little reveal. As a perfect ending to the excitement of Big/Little week, we hold Initiation week, where you will learn all about our Ritual and officially become a sister of Alpha Phi!
NEW MEMBER PROGRAM
During this exciting period, you will attend weekly New Member Meetings, in which you will not only get to know your new sisters, but also your new chapter! Sisterhood events, retreats, and bonding are just the start of your amazing experience as an Alpha Phi! We look forward to meeting you during Formal Recruitment, and hope that we will soon be able to call you our sister!

Dear Potential New Member,
My name is Jenna Monkarsh and I am the Vice President of Membership Recruitment here at Alpha Phi. Three years ago I was in your position, signing up for formal recruitment. When I was signing up, I had no idea how much of an impact this process would make on myself in the future. Being apart of the Panhellenic Community is such a special experience, where you are instantly connected to hundreds of women and are able to make lifelong friends and memories. This community opens the doors to so many new opportunities and experiences that you may not be able to finds without being a part of the Panhellenic Community here at Florida State. With 17 different chapters on our campus, all of them are very unique, but we are all able to come together and be apart of something bigger than ourselves.
Being a member of Alpha Phi has helped me grow in more ways than one. I have grown as a sister, a friend, and a leader. This chapter has helped me realize the potential within myself, while pushing me to live up to the expectations and goals I have and work towards my dreams. Being involved in this chapter has been a very rewarding experience that has left me with many things I am able to take forward into the future. I do not believe I would be the person I am today without this chapter and the women who supported me and pushed me out of my comfort zone to accomplish the things I always dreamed of. I truly believe Alpha Phi is my home away from home and I hope that each of you will be able to find this as well while going through Formal Recruitment.
